Nicholas has had a cold this week, complete with an ear infection, but it hasn't stopped him from being his
usual active and curious self.
The other night Nicholas was standing in the toy basket (bottom right of the picture) and was playing with the pop up toy that was on the table. However, the red button is really hard to push and when it is on the floor he stands up and pushes it with all of his might before it pops up. So, seeing how the toy was on the table, he decide he needed to crawl up onto the table so he could pop up the red part (which you can see he did).
About this time Ben got home and thought it was funny he got up on the table by himself. So, we sat and watched him for a few minutes. The funniest part was when he tried to get down. He got him self turned around with his legs dangling off the edge but couldn't feel the ground with is toes, so he thought maybe he should try to get back up. At this point Ben and I thought it was
hilarious and were laughing until Nicholas figured out he just needed to go down (about 1 inch!).
Nicholas was born a reader. He has enjoyed listening to stories since he was teeny tiny. Now that he can "read" on his own, this is how I often find him!
Then, this is what you can usually look forward to:
He brings you the book (usually open like this) and wants you to read it. You can usually count on reading the same story at least 2 times, but often 3-5 times in a row. I'm ok with this (some are more annoying than others) but this seems to drive Ben nuts. He can't figure out why he would want to hear the same thing over and over...I just remind him it's very developmentally appropriate!
He likes to climb on things and sit on things that are at his level like his tractor and this chair:
This is another way I often find our child. He is a budding chef and likes anything that had to do with the kitchen.
And this is how he usually leaves the scene when he is finished playing:
Enough about Nicholas, moving on to our exciting news! Last night Ben and I signed papers on a 4.65 acre piece of land located at Road C and North Frontage Road. If all goes as planned, we should close on it in the next few weeks and then we can start the process of house building. We have a builder we are looking at, but have not met with yet. They have a floor plan we really like, so are hopeful it will work out!
As you can see, it has been yet another busy week for us!

That's exciting about buying some land! I can't wait until we can own our own place... I'm tired of renting and not being able to make the house how I want it!!
Congrats on the land Kelli! I'm sure you guys will enjoy the extra space. Things are working out down here as well, so it looks like it's the right timing for both of us! :)
