Friday afternoon we headed over to Spokane for the weekend. Friday evening we were at Mom and Dad's house just hanging out. During the night Friday Tristan (my nephew) came down with the stomach flu. Angie (my sister-in-law) followed suit Saturday morning. Seems every time they are in Spokane they get sick!
Ben and I went out to breakfast Saturday for my birthday (although Ben hadn't remembered it was my b-day at this point). We went to Old European Breakfast House, which is my favorite breakfast place in Spokane and enjoyed eating out without a toddler. I started getting a rash on Friday and by Saturday it was quite bad, so after breakfast we went to Walgreen's to get some supplies for me. When we walked inside Ben saw the card isle and stopped, pulled out his phone to check the date and said, "Happy Birthday." I told him I had a feeling he forgot...as did everyone else at the house with all of the sickness happening! Good thing birthdays aren't as exciting when you get a little older! However, when we returned from Breakfast I had a few people waiting to sing to me...all is well.
Saturday afternoon we headed over to Brent and Jen's house to celebrate Kayla's 6th birthday. The kids enjoyed a water fight, pinata and cake. Later that afternoon everyone gathered at Mom and Dad's for dinner and a birthday cake for me. We all had a good day and probably ate too much!
Sunday we ended up going out to brunch after church with my Mom and Dad and Bryan's family (who were all feeling better!). So we headed to Golden Corral where Nicholas enjoyed doughnut, cinnamon roll and ice cream (among other things). I don't know if he has ever had so much sugar at one meal!
We headed back fairly early so I could go see a doctor about my rash...turns out I was allergic to the last medicine I was on...so that sent me to the pharmacy...again. Glad to know it wasn't much and it should go away soon.
Sunday evening there was a Pie Auction at church to benefit one of our members. There was a BBQ after the auction and Nicholas entertained people by toddling around the house giggling and being extra happy. Nicholas bought a small sized coconut pie during the kiddie pie auction. He ended up eating 1/2 of it and still had some bites of homemade ice cream too. If you remember back to breakfast and what he ate, it is no wonder the child was so full of energy. He had more sugar today than most of his life combined!
Last night I woke up about 2:30 to the sound of an animal trying to get out of the trap. So, for the record we have now caught 5 skunks (and 1 cat) since the 16th...not counting the 2 nights we kept the traps closed while we were in Spokane. I'm supposed to return the trap on Thursday, but think I will be asking for an extension!
With such a nasty rash on my legs, I didn't want to take Nicholas to swim lessons, so Debbie took him for me. Today's class was mostly getting acquainted with the water. He enjoyed splashing and kicking his legs and should have a good time with this. He will get more comfortable with it everyday, I'm sure.
Well, I guess that is about all for now. This is what happens when you have a big weekend and don't post while you are gone!

Yeah, he'll probably forget his birthday when it rolls around, too... You'll have to learn to drop bigger hints!
