Time for a splash!

Yesterday was a bit chilly out, but Nicholas did really well at swim lessons. The goal of the day was to work on floating on their backs. That didn't go real well. He was nervous and cold (the wind was too cold to have half of your body out of the water!). So, instead we practiced bobbing up and down which was loads of fun, even when getting a little water in his mouth. He attempted to blow some bubbles, but just stuck his mouth in the water. We also practiced walking in the water at neck height. I held him out from me and made him walk to me, scooting back when he almost reached me. This was a fun game for him and he was doing much better with walking in the water by the end.

Today Nicholas had a rough morning and with two major fits before we ever left for swimming lessons, I debated whether we should go or not. Deciding that a change of scenery would be good for both of us, we went. Today the goal was to chase a toy in the water. We picked a ball out of the toy bag and played at ankle depth. He did a good job of going after his ball and seemed to enjoy it until he fell and got soaked. See, today was even colder than yesterday. So we went in deeper to try to keep him warm, but it just wasn't happening today. The bouncing in and out of the water that was so fun yesterday didn't even put a smile on his face. So 20 minutes into the 30 minute session we called it quits and headed home.

I've still been picking zucchini...much to Ben's dismay. We had fried zucchini Monday night and today I made another batch of bread. I will probably end up making another one tonight or tomorrow. At least the freezer will be well stocked!
