Doctor Visit

We had Nicholas' one year appointment today. He weighed 27 lbs 8 oz and was 32 1/4 inches long. That puts him in the 95th percentile and higher!

He had to get 4 shots today, and also had to have a routine blood draw. The poor little guy was such a trooper. I'm sure he felt like a pin cushion (not that he knows what that is!). He cried at both and it didn't help that this all happened at nap time. He fell asleep very quickly on the way home and slept for over 2 hours. He needed it!

He has been enjoying playing with his new toys. We spent some time outside today, but with the wind we stayed in this afternoon. He enjoyed reading books and helping me build block towers. He also has fun watching me push the buttons on the pop-up toy and watching the things open. He likes to push them down.

Ben is finally done with his chopping job, so was able to make it home before Nicholas went to bed tonight. Nicholas was all smiles when Daddy came home, and had fun showing off for him (running around the house giggling!).

Yeah, I always felt bad for the kids at their 12 month visit when I was doing outpatient pediatrics--so many shots and the blood draw! I was just glad to be out of the room before the nurses brought in the syringes. He shouldn't have any at his fifteen month visit, though, so that'll be a good thing.
