Today was Nicholas' 1st Birthday!!! He is fighting a cold, so the day wasn't much fun. Naps were hard because his coughing would wake him up. Poor guy! He finally was able to get a nap by sleeping on me. Hopefully it will all be over by this weekend. I've been busy getting things ready for his party this weekend...as well as trying to entertain a 1 year old. This proves to be tricky sometimes!
I've come to the realization that birthdays take on a whole new meaning when you are a parent. I used to think that it was just celebrating another year (which is still part of it). However, after having a baby I think it also about remembering the birth and really looking back over the past year. Of course as he grows the years won't have such big changes in them, but I have a feeling I will still be a little reminiscent. Now, a little more about Nicholas...
His favorite thing to do is play outside. He loves exploring the backyard and getting dirty! He loves the sprinkler and now crawls (or walks...but the grass is a little lumpy!) for it, even if it is clear at the back of the yard. He gets so excited when he reaches it and the water hits him! Of course, after he is all wet he has to find some dirt to crawl through. He has been going through two sets of clothes a day lately!
Our house usually looks like a tornado went through it. He likes to empty shelves, pull things out of baskets/drawers play in the bathroom and do anything else he probably shouldn't. I get tired of picking up the same things over and over, so I usually leave it...unless we are expecting visitors.
Since the theme of the week is Birthdays, I decided the question of the week should fit that. Don't forget to vote!

I can only vote once, but I thought I'd say if Jason voted, he'd say white cake. ;) That way we're not misrepresenting anything! ;)
We're excited to come over this weekend! We're leaving tomorrow morning, and we'll come back sometime on Monday, so we'll have plenty of time with everyone. Jason can finally meet Nicholas!
Yes, Happy Birthday to Nicholas!
We are behind, as usual, and so haven't anything to send over with Rachel and Jason. And, since Shane is really concerned with traveling, as you know, we won't be there this weekend. :( I'm sure he'll have a fun time without us though! Hopefully his cold clears up and he can enjoy his day...
We'll see you all soon enough!
