I first went to most of the home/hardware stores in Moses Lake looking for the right bricks to choose for the project. I finally found some I liked at Lowe's and started slowly buying them. I say slowly because these things weigh 16 pounds each. It was work to get them into the cart while having the boys with me, then deal with them once I got home. So, I did it in 3 trips and bought anywhere from 11-30 at a time and worked little by little.
I had to dig out all of the trenches to put the bricks in. Once the bricks were set and (mostly) straight I filled in around them. I realized just how much dirt had blown up against the house and so I broke out the wheelbarrow and started hauling sand away. I took many loads out and it looks so much better!
This picture is standing at the Southwest corner of the house.

And the South side.
Everything I have planted are perennials. Hopefully everything will live and come back next year so I won't have to do this again! I also planted perennials in the other front flower bed.
In the coming weeks the goal is to string drip lines (the white tube is the sprinkler line) and then get some bark/much to cover everything. I want to make sure I like everything and don't want to add anything else before I do that step!
So, I've put a lot of time into these projects, but I think things are looking so much better!
