I haven't posted a lot just about Nicholas and what he is up to lately. I realized today that he is doing and saying some funny things so here goes...
Nicholas has decided that naps are not for him anymore and hasn't taken one it at least a month or so. Despite this decision on his part, he does fairly well most of the day but tends to lose it some time after 7:00. He has been sleeping for 11-12 hours at night so that helps make up for the loss of naps.
His language seems to improve everyday and I am amazed at the things he says. The other day he was trying to tell me something and I told him I didn't know what he wanted. He grabbed my hand and said, "Come on, Mom, I show you something." That was a new one for him and I was a little surprised!
Nicholas likes a book called I Love You All Day Long. We have read the book several times over the last few weeks, but on Valentines day he came up to me and gave me a big hug and said, "I love you all day long." My heart melted and since then I hear that a few times a day.
This morning we were near the window just after the sun had come up. Nicholas looked out the window and yelled, "rainbow!" I looked out and although it was clear and sunny there definitely were several colors in the sky. I didn't even realize he knew what a rainbow was!
Later this morning Nicholas and I were reading one of his current favorite books, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. He likes to help with the words so I stop and let him help. Today I stopped at Scotch Tape and to my surprise he came out with Crotch Tape. This was great for a laugh and makes me remember what an innocent little boy he is!
Today we went on some errands for Daddy which included a stop at the John Deere Dealership. The guy there gave him a sucker and Nicholas was so excited to see the John Deere logo on it. He would lick the sucker and then look at it announcing, "John Deere!" After a few licks he looked at it and got a really confused look on his face. He had licked off the logo and the John Deere was gone...he obviously wasn't expecting to see the logo disappear. Oh so cute!
This afternoon we visited Dad at the farm to deliver the parts we picked up. Nicholas wears his rubber boots at the farm and knows that this foot attire is approved for puddle jumping. So with much joy and enthusiasm Nicholas jumped or ran his way through most of the puddles around the shop. When changing him later Ben asked where all the water came from. I had to tell him that was what was inside the boots! This child loves getting dirty!
It is so much fun having a little boy. A bit exhausting at times, but lots of fun. I'm enjoying our last few months together before the baby comes and everything changes. I think he will make a great big brother...especially when it comes to teaching the little guy how to get into trouble! :)
