Last week Nicholas and I made some home-made bread. He watched the mixer for me. He did such a good job that our bread turned out great! Sometimes he isn't quite as helpful. Like tonight when I was making dinner he kept trying to reach the meat that was cooking on the stove. I gave him the dirty pot that he was "cooking" in yesterday to play with. In the process of cooking, he took my trivet and dropped it to the floor where it cracked into pieces. I painted this in college when I worked at the daycare. I kind of like it. :(
After trying to cook for a while he got bored and starting taking the cheese and lettuce I was cutting and added it to his pots (which wasn't helpful in getting dinner finished). Then he took the dirty spoon he was stirring with and started putting it into the lettuce bowl. Now, there is helpful, then there is being gross. So, after 2 unsuccessful attempts to redirect the spoon back to the pot I had to take it away from him which he really didn't like.
After this he got even more mad at me and started hitting me. At this point I stop what I am doing to tackle a time out in the living room. He is starting to realize that he doesn't like having to stand in the corner, so hopefully he will begin to avoid time-outs (I'm sure it won't be as soon as I hope!).
The one good thing about having a 1 1/2 year old is that they usually come around pretty quick. By the time we were eating dinner he was very happy dipping his quesadilla in the sour cream.

I remember when Caleb broke my marble rolling pin helping with sugar cookies. Luckily Jon was able to get it fixed in the work shop at work! He finally brought it home on my birthday for me! :)
