There is good news to report! Nicholas' burn looks good and there hasn't been any blistering. There is one tiny spot where the skin looks a little more singed than the rest, but nothing big. He hasn't been cranky about it or even noticed that it is there. He slept well last night (better than the previous few) and has been his usual happy self despite the burn, cold and teething. This all makes me feel a lot better about the whole situation. We were lucky this time, now we both have to pay close attention in the future!
As I type Nicholas is playing with the "kid" in the mirror and giving him kisses. This is something he hasn't done lately because he usually pushes the bathroom door (where the mirror is) open and heads right into the bathroom to play. One of his favorite new things to do is lift up the toilet lid and put his hand in the water. To this I say "Yuck" and he quickly pulls his hand out and I wash it. Since the thing I bought to prevent him from opening the toilet lid doesn't work on our toilet, a piece of packing tape is working for now...
Ben began harvest yesterday which means our time with him will be quite limited for a while. Nicholas loves spending any amount of time with him that he can and looks forward to him coming home everyday. In fact the minute he hears his pick-up backing into the driveway, he starts smiling. He gets impatient though and is sometimes sad that Daddy doesn't come through the door faster!

Glad for you and Nicholas that it doesn't seem to be too bad of a burn. It is one of the things I worry about in our kitchen with Danelle, but actually mostly with the dog, who likes to be right at my feet, or right between me and the stove (where I'd spill a pot full of water on him on my way to drain pasta or something.) I remember one of Rachel's second degree burns--she got it while riding the bus on the way home from school. It was a nasty little (big) burn. Could have been real bad for Nicholas, so glad that isn't the case.
