Ben thought it would be funny the other day to put a bunch of clothes pins on Nicholas. As you can see, none of them hurt him and he quickly learned how to pull them off of himself.
Today we headed outside to play and work in the garden. First, Ben thought it was time to dig up the rest of my carrots. So, he and Nicholas did the first one for me.
The rest of swimming lessons went well. Nicholas loves the water and it is actually hard to keep him out! He tries to blow bubbles, but only sticks his mouth in the water. I think that is a good start, so we will work on the blowing thing. He isn't a big fan of dunking, but I don't blame him, really.
Wednesday afternoon I finally took Nicholas to have his 1 year old pictures taken (mostly bruise free!). He did a good job of smiling and being happy for the lady. I wasn't sure how Wal-mart would do, but the first part went pretty well. We will see how they look when they come in!
Friday afternoon Amanda and Bryce came over for a play date. We had a good time playing in the back yard and enjoyed getting wet in the sprinkler. Nicholas was soaked (diaper included) so I stripped him down in the backyard and let him run for a few minutes to dry off. Bryce was so worried he might poop he kept saying "poop! poop!" We had to reassure him that it would all be ok!
Friday evening we headed out the farm for a ride on the combine. Ben has been combining a field of Triticale and we thought Nicholas might enjoy the ride. After about 10 minutes of riding he was sound asleep and stayed that way for probably half an hour or so (which surprised be because he had a good nap not long before!). When he woke up he quickly found a box of zip ties that were on the floor. Those entertained him until we were done for the evening. I'll have to put the pictures on later as I borrowed Debbie's camera since I had forgotten mine.
After the combine ride we went back to Lou and Debbie's for dinner. Ben's great Uncle George and Aunt Terry were visiting and we thought it would be good to see them since it has been a while. Debbie had tables set up outside so we could have a nice dinner under the trees. Right about the time we went out to eat the wind started blowing and it started raining. So we finished quickly and had to do dessert inside.
Nicholas has learned many new things lately. He now knows how to throw/roll a ball with me and clap his hands. He also is beginning to say more sounds. Here is a cute picture I took the other day while we were playing. It was too cute not to post!
Then I picked some squash and zucchini. Here is what we picked today:
Next, Nicholas decided it was time to play in the mud. He had quite the time and even lost a shoe in there. Daddy dug the shoe back out, so it wasn't lost for long!
And of course for any of you who know Nicholas, the day wouldn't be complete without eating some mud.
