Airplanes Take You Places

Tuesday the 15th we boarded a plane with both of the boys. We flew into Louisville, Kentucky where we were headed to the National Farm Machinery Show.

Both boys did excellent on the airplane! Nicholas watched Curious George most of the way. I had bought some new $5 DVD's and George was the only one he watched the whole time we were gone. He was pretty excited about going up in the air and then landing again. We are pretty sure he has no concept that we went from one place to another. One of the times we landed he said, "We are back to the airport."

Here are the boys on one of the legs of our trip.
And Eli and I on the plane for his first plane ride!

Our flights were on-time and we landed in Louisville about 10:00pm. We went and got our luggage and headed over to the rental car counter. I told them we had a reservation for a car and the response was, "We don't have any cars." I'm thinking, "No, I have a reservation, where is our car?" He tried to tell us they had some that weren't returned yet. He then took out a paper for us to write our contact info on. We were number 11. Yeah, they didn't have a few cars not get returned...someone messed up. We were told to take a cab to our hotel and call at 6am to tell the people on duty that day why we really needed a car. So, by the time we got to our hotel, ordered in pizza (we had no other way to get food) and got to bed it was very late. I set the alarm and woke up at 6am to call. The lady I spoke with told me she hadn't looked things over yet and didn't know what was going on. I told her the man had wanted me to point out that we had two small kids in car seats that makes it very hard to take a taxi places. She told me to call back in an hour. Why did I get up so early??? I called back at 7:00 and she said she she had something for me, so to get there quick. Eli and I got another taxi back to the airport while the other 2 slept. To sum up the rest we ended up with a Tahoe for the week. Just yesterday I was sent a customer satisfaction survey from the rental car company. I'm pretty sure they are regretting that. It wasn't quite the start to our trip we were looking for.
More on our trip to come....

Just for future reference, what rental car agency were you using...so I never rent a car from them? How unprofessional. You think they would at least get you a car through another rental agency and eat the difference or something.

The problem was we were there for a National Farm Show so all companies were out of cars. Although other companies were giving their reserved customers cars! It was Dollar. We have used them a few times and had good luck in the past.
